McCracken County 4-H Smithsonian Project

Smithsonian educators from the Museum on Main Street program, along with 4-H youth development professionals, led the 2024 Stories 4-History program in Kentucky, Missouri, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. This initiative is part of a broader, ongoing collaboration between the Smithsonian and 4-H, designed to amplify the voices of youth from rural communities nationwide.

Over a 10-week period, 4-H members aged 13-19 participate in a civic engagement project that highlights local stories of democracy, focusing on issues important to today's youth.

McCracken County was one of only three counties in the state chosen to participate, representing the West Region. During the 10 weeks, a group of McCracken County teen 4-H members researched, developed, conducted interviews, and compiled their project, which will soon be showcased at the national level. McCracken County 4-H extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this project. We hope you enjoy the culmination of all their hard work!
